Copying and Reproduction

The articles on J-STAGE can be downloaded for individual use only, regardless of whether it is for business or personal use without copyright restrictions. Some articles of Denki Kagaku (2018-) are distributed to non-members for a fee. If you wish to use them for other purposes, such as the following, you may need to follow the prescribed procedures.

Distribution of photocopies for the purpose of perusal

Distribution of pdf files or copies of articles to participants of conferences, seminars, and in-house training sessions without permission is prohibited. Participants may download and obtain documents by personally accessing the files. If an author of a published article receives a request by a third party to send a copy of the document, the author should respond in the same way, i.e. send the person a DOI link to the article. When sending PDF files directly to others or copying and distributing files downloaded by presenters or organizers, including authors, an application for permission for copying is required. In this case, please apply through the copyright handling organization in each country that is affiliated with Japan Academic Association for Copyright Clearance (JAC).
All other uses will be regarded as reproduction of contents.

Copyright permission request

For permission to reproduce, please fill the copyright permission request form.
https://journal.electrochem.jp/copyright_permission_form.html

The requirements for reproduction permission are described there.
Even if you do not need to apply for permission to reproduce, please be sure to cite the source. Please follow the description method of each journal when citing reproduced material. If there is no specified format, please follow the instructions below.

  • Format in the article to be reprinted having a reference list
If the article to be reprinted has a list of references, please include the original article in the list of references, indicate its number in the caption of the reprinted figures and tables, and append "Reproduced with permission of The Electrochemical Society of Japan.” In this case, there is no need to add "doi" here.

    Example:
Figure 1. Voltage profiles for cathode materials using FTIR cell. 1 Reproduced with permission of The Electrochemical Society of Japan.
  • Format in the article without a reference list to be reprinted
In the caption of the reprinted figures and tables, write the name of the author (only the first author is necessary), journal name, volume, first page of the article, and year of publication, followed by "Reproduced with permission of The Electrochemical Society of Japan." The doi may be included if necessary.

    Example:
Voltage profiles for cathode materials using FTIR cell. Reproduced from article written by M. Matsui et al., Electrochemistry, 83, 874(2015), with permission of The Electrochemical Society of Japan.

History of Journals

1933.7 A founding journal of ECSJ; “Denki Kagaku(電氣化學)”, was launched (Vol.1, No.1). An official title of the journal in English was “The Journal of The Electrochemical Association of Japan”.
1947.12 The journal was renamed “The Journal of The Electrochemical Society of Japan” in English (Vol.15, No. 9-12).
1958.1 The journal title “電氣化學(Denki Kagaku)” was changed from the old kanji-character style to the current new-style kanji characters; “電気化学”.
1958.3 “Journal of The Electrochemical Society of Japan (Overseas Supplementary Edition)” was firstly issued as an alternate version including English abstracts.
1961.6 The journal title in Japanese had been renamed “電気化学および工業物理化学(Denki kagaku oyobi kōgyō butsuri kagaku)”(vol.29, No.6). The abbreviated name “Denki Kagaku” continued to be used until 1998.
1970.1 “Denki kagaku oyobi kōgyō butsuri kagaku (Denki Kagaku)” began to accept English papers, and the “Journal of The Electrochemical Society of Japan” was evolved and merged to “Denki Kagaku” (Vol.38, No.1).
1999.1 “Denki kagaku oyobi kōgyō butsuri kagaku (Denki Kagaku)” was renamed “Electrochemsitry” in English (Vol.67, No.1). The ISSN code was updated.
2012.1 “Electrochemistry” was issued in J-Stage as an Online Edition (Vol.80, No.1).
2018.1 The printed version of “Electrochemistry” was discontinued. The new online only bi-monthly journal publishes only original scientific and technical papers (Vol.86, No.1-).
2018.3 “Denki Kagaku(電気化学)” was newly established as a society quarterly bulletin, published separate from “Electrochemistry”, for the purpose of mutual exchange of academic activities and information among society members (Vol.86, Spring).
2019.11 Online versions of past articles in "Denki Kagaku(電氣化學)" and "Denki kagaku oyobi kōgyō butsuri kagaku(電気化学および工業物理化学)" were published on J-Stage.
2020.3 Numbering of "Denki Kagaku" was returned from the seasonal notation to the number. (Vol.88, No.1)
2020.9 Online version of past articles in "Journal of the Electrochemical Society of Japan (Overseas Supplementary Edition)" was published on J-Stage.
2022.1 Monthly publication of "Electrochemistry" with sequential publication of each article started.
