Organic electrosynthesis is a scientific field in which organic synthesis is performed with using electric energy. With the recent increase of general interest in climate change, social expectations for organic electrosynthesis are growing as a key technology to achieve net-zero carbon emissions. Also, from a different viewpoint, electrolytic are now widely recognized as a useful tool that can generate radical ion species under mild conditions, and their use in synthetic organic chemistry, in which radical intermediates play a vital role, is rapidly expanding. With these backgrounds, the number of publications related to organic electrosynthesis are rapidly increasing, and the field has come to be recognized as the key to a revolution in synthetic organic chemistry.
This special feature is organized by young members of the Organic Electrochemistry Group of the Electrochemical Society of Japan with the aim of introducing cutting-edge research on organic electrosynthesis. It will consist of original papers, communications, and notes. Targeted research includes wide range of organic electrochemistry, including molecular transformations, fabrication of materials, and development of measurement technology. Topics from peripheral areas are also welcome.

Main Subjects and Categories
Organic electrosynthesis, Electron transfer, Redox-active materials, Electrochemical measurement, and Other topics related to synthetic organic chemistry by electrosynthesis.

Types of Papers

  • Article, Communication, Note, and Comprehensive Paper
  • Invited Papers are planned by the recommendation of Organic Electrochemistry Group.
